Prayers of the Faithful explores how, in response to the changing circumstances of Catholics in American society, the parish-centered devotions cherished during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were gradually replaced by more home-based and individual ways of praying. Along the way, it draws attention to particular elements readers might otherwise miss, and illuminates the many.
